Define Your One Primary Conversion

Write down the single most important action a visitor can take. It's the one that means money. Everything you report ties back to it.

Why this matters
A campaign with one clear goal stays focused and honest. Tracking ten vanity numbers spreads your effort thin. It also lets you hide from whether the work is paying off.

✓ How to do it

  1. Ask: what's the one action that leads straight to revenue? (booking, quote request, call, purchase)
  2. Make sure it matches the key event you marked in GA4.
  3. Write a one-line goal, for example 'Grow organic booking-form submits by 40% in 90 days.'
  4. Keep it visible. It's the headline of every report you'll send.
Done whenA one-line goal is written in the tracker and it names the same key event as GA4.
From the field. PPI Auto, 48 states

We picked the web form as the one goal for our own auto brands, and the numbers backed it up. From 26 August to 19 September 2026, supercanic.com sent 26 form leads and 22 became jobs. prepurchaseauto.com sent 30 and 21 became jobs. Tracked phone calls sent 613 leads and 98 became jobs. A form lead shows up with the car, the problem and a callback number already written down, so it closes four to five times as often.

Tips & pitfalls
  • If you have several, pick the one closest to money. You can still track the others, just don't headline them.
