Tag Your Profile Link So You Can See Its Traffic
Add a tracking tag to the website link on your Google Business Profile. Then GA4 can show which visits came from your profile.
Why this matters
Without the tag, profile visits mix in with regular Google search, so you can't prove what the Map Pack is worth. It takes two minutes.
✓ How to do it
- Take your homepage or main city page URL.
- Add this to the end:
?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=gbp. - In your profile, edit Contact → Website and paste the tagged URL. Do the same for any appointment link.
- Click the link on your live profile yourself, and check that the visit appears in GA4 Realtime.
- In GA4, find these visits under Traffic acquisition with Session campaign set to gbp.
Done whenThe tagged link is live on the profile, and a test click shows in GA4 with campaign gbp.
Tips & pitfalls
- Keep utm_source=google and utm_medium=organic so the visits still count as organic in your reports.
