Decide if You Need an llms.txt File
An llms.txt file is a plain text summary of your site, written for AI readers. It's cheap to add. It's also easy to overrate.
Why This Matters
Google's own guidance says no special files or markup are needed for its AI features. Some other tools and crawlers may read an llms.txt, and it takes minutes to write. So treat it as optional housekeeping, and do your page fixes first.
✓ How To Do It
- Finish the last three lessons first. They matter more.
- Create a file named llms.txt at the root of your site.
- Write your business name, a one line summary, then links to your top pages with a short note on each.
- Keep it true, and keep it short.
- Update it when you add or change a main page.
Done WhenAn llms.txt loads at your site root, or you wrote down why you are skipping it for now.
