Give Every Writer a Real Page

Each post names the real person who wrote or checked it. That name links to an author page with a real photo and real proof of who they are.

Why This Matters
The worst mistake is a made up writer. Google asks who created the content, and it warns against fabricated profiles and fake headshots. A false author gets caught by a reader before it gets caught by Google. A real name, even a small one, is worth more than a polished fake.

✓ How To Do It

  1. List who actually writes or checks your content. If nobody on your team will put a name on it, sign it as the business. Never invent a person.
  2. Make one page per person at a plain address like your site then authors then their name.
  3. On the page put their real name, a recent photo of them, their role, and how long they have done the work. Only state years that are true.
  4. List credentials only if you can link the issuer. A license number links to the board that issued it. See Link Proof to the Place That Issued It.
  5. Add a short bio in plain words about what they actually do on the job. Add a way to reach them.
  6. Add a list of every post that person wrote, linked.
  7. On each post add a byline with the name linked to the author page, plus the date it was published and updated.
  8. Add article markup to each post. Use the name only in the author name field. Put the author page address in the author url field. Give each author their own entry. Make sure every author shown on the page is also in the markup.
  9. Keep wrote and reviewed apart. If a technician checked a post an office worker wrote, show both with clear labels.
  10. Test it. Click every byline and confirm it lands on the right page. Check the author page on your phone.

Tips & Pitfalls
  • Do not use a stock photo or an AI headshot for a person. Google names that as a problem.
  • If a writer leaves, keep their old posts credited to them, or reassign after the post is truly rewritten.
  • This extends Show Who Is Behind the Site. Do that first if you have not.
